Domenico Dolce was born in 1958 just outside of Palermo, Sicily.  Stefano Gabbana was born in 1962 in Milan, Italy.  This dynamic pair met while working as assistants in a Milan atelier.  In 1982 they began the first Dolce and Gabbana studio together.  Their work first gained acclaim and recognition in a 1985 “New Talents” show in Milan.  Dolce and Gabbana’s bold, sexy fashion was new and became trend-setting.

Numerous celebrities have embraced Dolce and Gabbana’s sensual creations on the red carpet and on tour.  Dolce and Gabbana designed 1500 costumes for Madonna’s world tour in 1993.  Celebrities greatly increased the worldwide recognition of the designers and their collections.

In December of 1995, Dolce and Gabbana signed a licensing agreement with Marcolin to start a men’s and women’s eyewear and sunglass line.  Their eyewear is fashionable, yet cutting edge.

Dior transformed broken, postwar Paris into the fashion capital of the world.  He brought relief from stiff, military uniforms.  Dior introduced fashion with beautifully feminine details and luxurious fabrics.  Christian Dior only designed for his own house for ten years, but he made a permanent mark on the fashion industry.
