  Theodore E. Obrig

Before Theodore Obrig, wearing contact lenses was virtually unbearable. Lenses  were made out of thick, unyielding glass.  In 1938, Obrig in conjunction with John Mullen created contact lenses made completely of plastic.  Plastic is much more comfortable on the eye surface than glass.  Obrig made contacts a feasible solution to eye problems for the masses.
