Nose Pad Inserts

There are several different ways to apply nose pad arms. Some of the techniques include fusing, pressure press and screw in. Each method is durably adequate if executed properly. Below is a brief description of each method and some images depicting the cosmetic aesthetics of after-market nose pad arm inserts.

Fusing requires a heating process that heats the tips of the nose pad arm inserts,  which are then submerged into the plastic frame hence becoming infused into the plastic frame. This process is the strongest bond, but also runs a risk of excessive melting of the plastic around the nose pad arm inserts, which sometimes creates a minor deformation.

Pressure press nose pad inserts are usually prepped by measuring and drilling small pilot holes to guide the nose pad arm insert tips. Once the entrance pilot holes are drilled out the nose pad arms are pressed in by pressure with a set of special pliers. An adhesive or epoxy may be added to the process to strengthen the bond.
